Liverpool have no intention of letting Florian Wirtz leave Anfield in January, according to German transfer journalists Christian Falk.
Although the 23-year-old arrived in the red half of Merseyside last summer for a record-breaking fee of £116million, the former Bayer Leverkusen starlet has struggled to find his feet since joining England’s elite squad.
However, the Germany international has yet to open a Premier League account this season and has been linked with an immediate return to his home country.
However, while Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich may still hold a long-term interest in the 45-cap international, Falk reported this week that Anfield hierarchy have no intention of cashing in when the transfer window reopens.
Having previously been linked with a move to Bavaria before officially arriving at Liverpool in June 2025, Bayern appear to be keeping a close eye on developments and have identified Wirtz as the ideal replacement should Michael Ollis reject a new deal with the club.
While Wirtz may still be regarded as one of Europe’s hottest attacking prospects, he has only scored five goals in 39 Premier League appearances and his young shoulders have come under increasing scrutiny.
Despite this, there is full support from new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola and the former Bournemouth boss has made it clear that the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder remains an integral part of his plans.
