Great to see Newcastle United’s Ousmane Diabaté develop for club and country over the summer.
The midfielder, signed at the age of 18, will be confirmed with the purchase of nine players.
Despite only being 18 years old, Ousmane Diabaté was already a full international for Guinea and was also first choice for Gençlerbirliği, playing as a defensive midfielder.
The teenager has been returned to the Turkish Superliga club for the rest of this season to get first team football.
Gaining regular football as a starter at club level, Ousmane Diabaté started today for Guinea in an important AFCON group qualifier. The teenager played the second half in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against South Africa.
Today he is a starter for Guinea and one of only two players to start in midfield and attack, although he has played a full match.
Ousmane Diabaté, who turned 19 a week ago, has a lot of responsibility on his young shoulders.
The United teenager, who impressed in midfield and helped his team win over Kenya, Guirassy scored the only goal of the game in the 32nd minute.
Ousmane Diabaté didn’t attract many headlines when he signed for Newcastle United, but he has great potential and it’s great to see him getting so much first-team football as he looks to develop his game and eventually challenge for first-team football at NUFC.
This is the September and October 2026 international schedule for Newcastle United players:

Bazumana Toure comes on in the 65th minute in this AFCON qualifier. The Ivory Coast crushed Somalia but the Newcastle winger opened them up in the 89th minute and Toure’s cross was only to be tapped home by Gboho. The United star then scored an own goal when it rebounded off the post and hit the rebound into the roof of the net.
Czech Republic 0 England 2
Lewis Hall was the star in this win against the Czech Republic, who were one man down after 25 minutes. Anthony Gordon combined brilliantly down the left to give the United star man of the match award. The less we say about most of his teammates, the better! Gordon opened the scoring with a very clever header, Kane then converted a free-kick from ten yards with the ball falling kindly. “Newcastle” player Lukas Horniček is watching this Nations League match from the bench.
