Kieran Gill’s Daily Mail article has some interesting insight into where Chelsea stand in their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott today.

It’s an open secret that the Blues (along with a number of top clubs) are chasing the rising star who won his first England cap. But what are the chances of them landing it? Not much, at least in January.

Gill writes that Bournemouth “have no intention of selling their star midfielder in January” and won’t even enter into negotiations until they are “once again firmly established in the Premier League this season”.

It seems like they know he’s going eventually, but they won’t sell until next summer, meaning they won’t enter serious negotiations until after January. Chelsea must now decide whether to bring in a short-term solution in the winter window, or whether they will be comfortable using what they have until they can sign Scott.

The two teams will face off next weekend when the Premier League returns.
