Udinese player Nicolo Zaniolo left Italy’s training camp with an injury and will therefore not feature in the Nations League games against Türkiye or France.
The striker was one of the strong candidates to start in last night’s 2-0 home defeat to Belgium at the Olympic Stadium.
Instead, he was left in the stands and not even ready to take a spot on the bench due to health issues.
Zaniolo leaves Italy camp
The situation didn’t get better today, so I decided Send Zaniolo back to club for treatmentwhich will be his first appearance in Italy since 2024.
He suffered a hamstring injury last month and has made just one appearance for Udinese since then.
Zaniolo is the latest player to leave the Azzurri squad after Federico DiMarco and Brian Cristante, who were replaced by Matteo Ruggieri and Samuel Ricci.
Others, such as Marco Palestra, have been hampered by injuries and have not been included in Roberto Mancini’s squad at all.
Italy will continue their Nations League campaign with a trip to Türkiye on Monday 28 September before visiting France on 2 October.
The international break will end on October 5 against Turkey at the Estadio Dalara in Bologna.
