For those who weren’t able to watch Wolves play Everton last night, here are some thoughts. Ratings are subjective, so I don’t expect everyone to agree with these. Just an honest review.

Virginia: 8
After an encouraging debut, this morning should be lively. Made several key interventions and showed a lot of courage in some of his work. His handling isn’t 100% safe, but it won’t be long before (if not over the weekend) that he’ll be pushing Sa hard to get going.
Chachua: 5
The defense has improved slightly, but is still oddly (and maddeningly) unwilling to use its speed to get forward and contest opposing defenders on the outside. I booked the game early due to an ill-advised raid and had to be careful with nightmares like Grilish, but still made crosses too easy for my liking.
Totti: 6
I’m not a big fan of his, but he wasn’t as shaky as usual and made a lot of strong tackles. It’s a pity that he was the one turned in by Alcarez to score, but he could have done so with the help of those around him who made his move so successful.
Craigie: 7
Reading the game carefully, it appears to be returning to game form. Is this the main reason why we looked better defensively but substituted at half-time to ensure a recovery on Sunday?
Xiaonan: 7
A hopeful performance. His attacking speed and confidence look good, and he’s strong in the tackle. Although Dibling gave me a hard time, it could have been done with Chirewa’s help.
Doyle: 7
It was probably his best performance in a Wolves shirt. Taking on more responsibility and working well with Bubacar in timing, but still not a starter for me.
Boubacar: 7
Really inspiring. Strong in the tackle, unlike Andre, he looks to get the ball forward as early as possible. Made a couple of great recovery runs to help us out when we were getting nervous at halftime. To me, this is a better option than Muniez, or at least better than Doyle, as Muniez usually comes on as a substitute in the 67th minute.
Neff: 8
Easily a fan favorite. Much more powerful than he looks, with a bit of speed and excellent close range control. A potential drive was botched by an errant pass, but looked like a real threat. Are Armstrong’s potential rivals connected to Jiminez? It will be interesting to see how he and Fer get along. The debut was very encouraging.
James: 6
A bit disappointing. I was expecting strong runs from midfield and late players in the penalty area, but for some reason he was almost unknown. He worked hard at his defensive duties but achieved less than I expected.
Chirewa: 5
Overall disappointing. Can beat opponents with quick feet but often makes the wrong choices and needs a clearer understanding of his defensive duties. Losing steam at the end and could have been substituted earlier. Like Mane, he has potential, but also like Mane, he needs to learn quickly if he wants to play an important role in the team.
Jiminez:
I’ve been feeling a bit lost lately. The injury occurred early on and didn’t have much of an impact on the game before coming off the field. So far we’ve seen Si Senor, but not as consistently as we did at the World Cup, where the service was better.
Substitute
Armstrong: 5 – Not a center for me. Be better at dealing with the target person.
Djiga: 6 – Has been good in recent games but looks a bit unsure and has a lower accuracy on return passes which may cost us.
Bellegarde: 6 – All the energy and enthusiasm you’d expect from someone who’s been out for a while but not much in the end product. It takes time to resettle.
Trippier: Only 6-20 minutes, but it was encouraging to see the threat he posed with his eye for set pieces and passes. Once he’s healthy enough to start, he’ll be an asset.
Bernard Traore: 5 – Not really involved in any meaningful action. It seems like he’s still trying to get to know the rest of the team and vice versa.
Peixote – Head Coach: 7. The right decision was made to rest the players and prioritize Sunday’s game. It’s great to see the team looking to move forward and his confidence in his back-up players is justified. Maybe Chirewa should have been substituted at half-time, but we played well and kept Everton close. I really like his style of play and feel optimistic for the first time in years.
