This season has been a rough one for the Chicago Stars and their fans. They have been rooted to the bottom of the National Women’s Football League table for some time and are confident of finishing the campaign there. Still, with Vlatko Andonovski in charge, the future looks a little brighter.

Andonovski was hired as Chicago’s director of football on Sept. 17, and a club statement confirmed that he will “oversee all athletic efforts…including working closely with the head coach on roster development, on-field strategy, scouting, transfers and player development.”

It’s similar to the position Andonovsky originally held with the Kansas City Stream, where he built one of the best teams in league history. The only difference this time is that he is also not the head coach. However, he will have a major say in who that person is and will therefore still play a significant role in shaping the club’s training and playing pattern.

So what exactly is the Andonovsky approach, and what might it look like in Chicago?
