Now, after unveiling the design of Inter and AC Milan’s Stadio Generali, architect David Manica assures that “San Siro is a feeling” and that the new arena will be “more San Siro” than it is today.

San Siro is the name of a neighborhood in the city of Milan and was the official name of the stadium until it was named after former Inter and AC Milan star Giuseppe Meazza.

The two clubs bought the land, including the Stadio Meazza, in November 2025 in a deal worth around €197m and will build the new arena where the existing structure currently stands.

The design and layout of the new stadium was unveiled today at a special event jointly organized by the two Serie A clubs, just days before Saturday’s Madonnina Derby.

Architects Norman Foster and David Manica have already teamed up for the project, having already worked on the redesign of London’s Wembley stadium.

It will aim to retain many of the elements that make the Stadio Meazza so popular with fans, including the steep gradient of the stands that allow everyone to enjoy a good view.

“The most important thing we realized while developing this project is that the San Siro has a feeling,” Manica said.

“It’s more than a building, it’s a feeling. We’ve moved all the seats as close to the field as possible. They couldn’t be closer, you’ll actually feel like you’re sitting on the grass.”

Manica assured that his idea is not to replace the iconic venue, but to make it “more San Siro than it is now”.

Foster added that the structure would be “low in the body and rise up at both ends” behind the goals, with 11,700 seats each, reinforcing the two “Curva” sections where ultras are traditionally housed.

Capacity is approximately 71,500, including 8,088 hospitality seats and 3,698 premium experience areas, with 394 positions for wheelchair users.

The height of the stadium will reach 70 meters from the pitch and 66 meters from the outside park area, the wheeled roof will be covered with 27,500 square meters of solar panels.
