Everton continue to monitor Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners ahead of January, potentially opening up a route with a reduced role in Turin. The Dutch international was linked with the Toffees in the summer.
CaughtOffside attribute the report to Football Insider and note that Everton remain interested despite adding midfield options in recent months. There are no offers or deals and Manchester United have also been linked with the 28-year-old.
Koopmeiners’ reduced role creates an opening
Koopmeiners joined Juventus from Atalanta in 2024 but has struggled to consistently replicate the form that made him one of Serie A’s most sought-after midfielders. CaughtOffside reports that he has played just 131 minutes in Serie A this season and is set to leave Turin.
That limited involvement helps explain why a January move is under consideration, although Everton will have to weigh the opportunity against their existing options. James Garner, Harrison Armstrong and Hayden Hackney have made promising starts to the campaign, with Christian Norgaard expected to return from injury.
Midfield is therefore not an immediate priority for David Moyes’ team. Nevertheless, Koopmeiners experience and versatility could make him an attractive addition if conditions suit Everton and he can rediscover the attacking impact he had at Atalanta.
A loan or permanent arrangement is said to be both possible
According to CaughtOffside, Juventus invested around £46m in Koopmeiners. The report states that the Bianconeri are ready to consider either a permanent transfer or a loan deal in January, giving interested clubs more than one possible route.
This stated flexibility does not mean that the move will be simple. The terms of the fee or loan that Juventus demand will be central to Everton’s decision, especially considering that position is not their most pressing problem at the moment.
Everton’s continued monitoring keeps the possibility of a January move alive, but the report describes more interest than advanced talks. Koopmeiners can offer quality and versatility if available on reasonable terms; Whether the Toffees move will depend on what deal Juventus want to make.
