Chris Powell says Jack Wilshere is sorry for seeing a red card in Luton Town’s 2-1 defeat at Stevenage, which featured two “blatant” refereeing errors.
The latter said he believed Stevenage’s first goal should have been disallowed for an offensive foul and the second for offside.
Thursday’s results see Stevenage in fourth place with nine points from six games, while Luton are eighth with eight points as this weekend’s games come to a close.

Chris Powell stated that according to Luton people:
“he [Wilshere] Apologies to staff and players. He is an emotional and talented young coach who will come back again.
“It’s not going to be easy. It’s a lot of pressure, but he’s going to learn, he’s going to take it and move on and continue what he’s been doing since he came in.
“He has to go to the locker room. He’s in [phone] speaker. He and Tim were wearing headphones together [Corcoran – coach] And relayed some things, we were also telling him some things.

On the frustration of away games: “Maybe they haven’t seen the replay. I understand. We know emotions are always high in local derbies, whether it’s Stevenage or Watford. It’s frustrating.
“We understand the fans have paid their money and they have the right to express their opinion. But when they look back, those two goals shouldn’t have stood. It’s that simple.”
Alex Revell from Stevenage said: “We saw a game where both teams were trying to win, right? And a great battle. You know, they’re a very good team with very, very good players, but so are we. So are we. But we have a very hard-working team that works very hard for each other. And showed grit and determination to win tonight. I just felt like what stood out among our guys tonight was a lot of satisfaction with the performance and completely happy with the results of the performance.
When asked if this was a slow start for you, he responded: “It was a slow start because they played so well and sometimes you have to figure it out, you know, every game is different. You have to figure out how they’re built, what they’re doing, and certain things. We’ve got to do that as a team. We’ve got to do that in games.
“So, yeah, we had to figure it out, um, once we figured it out, once we handled their pressure better, I thought we, I saw our pressure, I thought we won. We moved forward. The goal came regardless of whether there was a foul or not, it was a great goal because again we showed how quickly these guys learn in certain situations and, you know, now the results.
“I think we then started to move forward and I thought we showed real aggression, real front-foot, you know, yeah, I just felt it from that moment, the moment we got two goals in and even up, obviously, it also turned into the nerves of wanting to win the game and they scored a goal, you know, really out of nowhere.”
“And then you know the last seven minutes were the longest seven minutes I think we’ve ever had. But yeah, I’m really happy and everyone will be proud of what they did tonight.”
