Chelsea’s impressive away win and clean sheet against Everton was marred by a horrific clash involving Amy Martinez.
The goalkeeper fell to the ground after a long delay and was immediately taken to the hospital.
After the game, manager Xabi Alonso gave an update on the health of the Chelsea number one, who had perhaps his best game at the club so far.
Chelsea fans await Martinez update
“As far as I know, he left the stadium unconscious. He’s currently in the hospital doing backup tests, so we’ll see, but that’s what I know so far,” Alonso said.
It’s about waiting – there’s almost no way we’d have any concrete information by now unless it was devastatingly awful. All we can do is wait and hope for the best.
Normally we’d expect a press conference from Alonso next Friday, but given the seriousness of this injury, we can imagine we’ll get an update sooner rather than later, either from the journalists’ own sources or from the club itself.
Let’s hope it’s positive.
