Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta has released the latest injury update on Arsenal’s squad ahead of their Premier League clash with Everton. The Gunners host the Toffees at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
Arsenal suffered a pre-match injury blow after key player Bukayo Saka was forced off the pitch in the early stages of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. He was replaced by Eberechi Eze, who scored the first goal in a 2:2 draw.
Bayern Munich thought they had turned the game around with goals either side of half-time from Alphonso Davies and Harry Kane. But Declan Rice equalized for Arsenal eight minutes before the end of normal time.
The focus now returns to the Premier League for the Gunners as they look to keep the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table. Here’s the latest from the injury room ahead of the clash with the Toffees.
Bukayo Saka
injury : Thigh
The winger was sent off early in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich in midweek. There is still uncertainty about the extent of the damage.
What Arteta said : “He had another MRI this afternoon because there was quite a lot of fluid in the area so it was hard to get a sense of the extent of the damage. We’ll know better tomorrow.”
He added: “We need a few more scans and expert opinion. Obviously, when a player has to leave the pitch, he has difficulty walking without pain, he has limited movement, which are not good signs. Let’s be a little patient to make a definitive assessment and then let you know.”
Potential return date : Unknown
Piero Hincapie
injury : Ankle
The defender has missed the last three games in all competitions but was seen in training ahead of the clash with Everton.
What Arteta said : “Piero, he trained with us and is ready tomorrow.”
Potential return date : vs “Everton” (H) – Saturday, October 24

The winger suffered the injury while playing for the national team in Greece. He is making good progress but the game against Everton is expected to come too soon for his return.
What Arteta said : “It’s going really well. He had another MRI yesterday to see how the injury is progressing. It’s progressing really well. Another one where we can be back in a couple of weeks.” (October 16)
Potential return date : Vs Fleetwood (A) – Tuesday, October 27
William Saliba
injury : Back
The defender has been sidelined for the summer due to a back injury.
What Arteta said : “I think we’ll have another MRI with him next week to see how the healing process is going. But every sign so far has been very, very positive, and yeah, it’s going to be great to have him.” (October 16)
Potential return date : November
