Roberto De Zerbi has made a big decision for Tottenham training ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Manchester United.
It is reported that Tottenham will participate in the mid-season trip to Marbella and prepare to face Coventry in the Premier League. Roberto De Zerbi’s side face Manchester United for the first time on Saturday evening, but look set to face Frank Lampard’s side next on Monday 19 October.
It has been a tough start to the season for Spurs as they are yet to win a game. It took Tottenham 446 minutes to score, but they kept at least two clean sheets.
Defensively, the Lilies have looked more solid than last season, but cohesion in attack is where the problems lie and De Zerbi seems to have put together a plan to try and fix that. According to BBC Sport, the team will travel to Marbella for a training camp after the game at Old Trafford.
Their report states that De Zerbi will be hoping the trip abroad will kickstart their campaign and provide an opportunity to bond with their new-look squad. Warm-weather training camps in the middle of the season aren’t unusual, but it’s certainly surprising to see a campaign scheduled this early.
It appears to be planned to help Spurs make a total of eight new signings in north London, spending more than £300m on five players in the summer.

Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka were transferred for free, while Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Savio and Sandro Tonali were transferred for big money. Omar Marmoush has also joined on a season-long loan with an option to buy, in addition to the temporary signing of Mykhailo Mudryk.
Despite the money spent, Spurs struggled to find immediate success and injuries to a number of key players made things even more difficult.
James Maddison is yet to start this season, while Pedro Porro is expected to miss a significant round with a hamstring injury. Micky van de Ven and Van Hecke have cleared international duty and while De Zerbi could at least give positive fitness updates on the Dutch duo, he hinted that one of them could miss out.
He said: “No, they are available to play. Micky played four games, 90 minutes, about 90 minutes. JP only played three games, that was the difference. JP, his wife gave birth to twins yesterday, the emotional aspect. We have to take that into account, but both are available to play.”
Dejan Kulusevski remains unavailable for selection but will be available for Manchester tonight as revealed by De Zerbi. He has been in team training for the past few weeks but is being watched surprisingly carefully as he has not played competitively since May 2025.
The Tottenham boss said: “He’s doing well, he’ll be with us tomorrow, Porro too [for support]. I want all the players tomorrow, tonight and tomorrow, but it works very well. I think he is an example for everyone, says Deyan Kulusevski.
“Forget about the football player, but how he reacted to the injury, his reaction to misfortune, the character he showed this time became an example and a reference for everyone.”
