Nico Gonzalez likely to miss Newcastle’s game against Hull City

Newcastle United midfielder Nico Gonzalez may be unavailable for the upcoming game against Hull City, according to reports.

That’s because FA rules mean he won’t quite miss the deadline to return after suffering a head injury.

Gonzalez suffered a head injury in Newcastle’s recent defeat away to Leeds United and was substituted due to concussion fears.

Newcastle are now preparing for their next game against Hull City at 3pm on Saturday, but there is a chance he will not be cleared to play as there has not been enough time since the initial injury.

“As you all saw, he had a knockout feel. We were responsible enough to take him off the field even though he looked good at the time, but there are some rules, especially for that situation.

“No matter how important he is, no matter how important it is to win the game. We are human beings and we take this seriously, so we decided to take him off the field.”

Gonzalez joined Newcastle from Manchester City this summer and looks to be a good signing for the Magpies.

The Spaniard will undoubtedly be a huge loss if he does not return soon, with his presence in midfield vital to Jasser’s side after the club lost midfield duo Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali in the summer.
