Napoli have confirmed that Scott McTominay has returned to team training and is available for selection following minor heart surgery.
At the end of August, the Partenopei announced that McTominay had been diagnosed with a “mild benign arrhythmia” that required surgery and would rule him out until the international break.
He then missed four games for his club – three in Serie A and a 1-0 Champions League defeat to Arsenal – and was left out of the squad for Scotland’s first four Nations League games.
Scotland picked up four points in his absence, their only win so far under Sebastien Pocognoli away to North Macedonia (2-0).
McTominay’s club face a busy schedule ahead of the next international break in November, with Saturday’s meeting with Frosinone kicking off nine matches over four weeks both domestically and in Europe.
But the midfielder will be available for selection after Napoli posted a positive update on the situation on Wednesday.

They said: “Today Scott McTominay underwent further diagnostic tests confirming his fitness to compete.
“Therefore, the Azzurri player has resumed training with the group after a period of individualized work on the field.”
McTominay has enjoyed great success since joining Napoli in 2024, scoring 27 goals in 82 games and playing a key role in their Scudetto victory under Antonio Conte in 2024-25.
