Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca claims Antoine Semenho is making “good” progress in his recovery from a knee injury.
The Ghana international picked up the problem in the 3-2 win over Ipswich Town earlier this month, but Maresca said the forward had already started his rehabilitation:
“He’s fine, he’s in good spirits. He’s in the building, he’s doing rehab sessions, he’s getting all the therapy he needs, but it’s still early. [to discuss his return].”
Semenyo is expected to be on the treatment table up to two months.
How many games can the Man City star miss?
Semenyo has already missed three games: the 5-1 win over AEK Athens, the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa and the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out win over Brighton.
If his estimated recovery period is accurate, he could miss a further 12 games in the Premier League, including Brighton (h), Nottingham Forest (a), Fulham (h), Arsenal (a), Leeds (h), Brentford (a), Chelsea (h) and Hull (h), as well as three Champions League group stage matches against RB Leipzig (Barcelona) and Napoli (asa). Cup 1/4 final match against Bradford City in December.
Latest Man City injury news
With the exception of Semenyo, Maresca says he has an almost fully fit squad to choose from ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton.
Matheus Nunes has missed the last two matches with a muscle problem, but the Portuguese is now back in training.
There were also some doubts over Iliman Ndiaye’s fitness after he left the pitch against Villa last Saturday with cramp. He did not feature in the Carabao Cup in midweek, but the Senegalese appears to be available for international selection.
