Manchester United v Liverpool Liverpool’s perspective
It was an absolute disgrace and cannot be excused by injuries, as the lack of effort and desire was especially galling. The tactics are the same ones Slaughter has used for most of the season, and the lack of fitness will never change because the players have so much rest time to actually work and build strength. What annoys me even more is trying to defend all rest days. Elite athletes become elite through hard work, not through vacations.
There wasn’t much to say about this game, it was the usual dross, the usual lack of fitness and despite being a defeat the result was once again far better than it should have been. It’s crazy that this has been allowed to go on for so long.
Manchester United
They had a really good first half and they should have built a bigger lead. They could have easily kept Liverpool out of control in the first 45 minutes. They broke through Liverpool’s defense with ease. They were a bit sloppy in the second half to help Liverpool equalise, and for a few minutes they were shaky. They were given a breather and took advantage of it to win a comfortable victory with a scoreline that didn’t reflect how much better they were than Liverpool. Honestly, it’s hard to say how good they are, just because of how bad Liverpool are.

woodcutter – Can’t blame him for any goals, for a third option he did well but he was very much a third option.
jones – I don’t understand why he continues to play at right-back, even though the right-back signed is in good condition. While he did that well enough, he did struggle with the defensive aspects of his game and had a tendency to rub the ball in dangerous areas. It was never a solution and really shouldn’t need to be tried, but Sloter was determined to avoid giving Ramsey’s true right-back even the slightest chance.
Konate – Fortunately, he thoughtlessly pushed Sesco to the advertising board. It’s not necessary. There is no danger in the first place. With his stupidity, he can completely turn things into a dangerous situation. That’s the best thing I can say about his game. He’s just awful and anyone at Liverpool stupid enough to think it’s a good idea to give this idiot a new contract should be sacked immediately. Watching him wander aimlessly makes me angrier every week. He makes me miss Phil Babb’s days on defense, he was really that bad.
Van Dyke – Terrible game. His shortcomings as a captain and a player have been exposed this season.
Robertson – One game too far. He was poor and looked his age.
Soboszlai – The only Liverpool player to have a great game. He made several good forward runs, one of which helped the team tie the score to 2-1.
McAllister —another in a long line of bad, anonymous performances.
gravenberg – Last season he excelled as a holding midfielder protecting the defence. Giving him more freedom to move forward has turned him back into the lackluster midfielder he was before. His passes in the offensive zone were terrible and it was obvious he should have been sitting out, but somehow no one on the coaching staff realized that.
Wirtz – He’s not quite at the level he’d like to be yet, but the lack of recognizable movement around him is seriously holding him back. Still, he should do more to take control of games and make things happen.
Frimpong – Not a winger, and that shows. He needs to make overlapping runs rather than be the main threat as he lacks the skill to dribble past players. He’s so weak that his only real attribute so far is speed, which he struggles to use to any effect at such a high starting position.
Gapo – His performances have improved, even though the bar has been set very low this season.
Kolkoz ——Replaced Robertson in the 59th minute. He worked hard, but the team reverted to slow passing downfield, making much of his effort in vain.
ngumoha – Came on as a substitute for Frimpong in the 75th minute. He often waved his feet, but with little success. He has a lot of potential, but he needs time to develop.
Chiesa – Replaced Konate in the 87th minute. As usual, Slaughter acted out of desperation in the final seconds, and this time there was little he could do.
