“Manchester United” may have difficulty appointing “Brighton” head coach Fabian Hurzeler

Brighton are not worried about losing Fabian Hurzeler, despite growing links between the 33-year-old and his Manchester United job.

Hürzeler’s stock has risen sharply after an excellent start to the season, with Brighton sitting third in the Premier League and playing the division’s most aggressive, entertaining football.

Manchester United are understood to be keen on him as pressure continues to mount on Michael Carrick, but Brighton believe they will remain in a strong position.

Brighton has not had any contact with Hürzeler

According to Football Insider, Brighton are “comfortable” with Hürzeler’s long-term future and have not been contacted by any other clubs.

While the Seagulls aren’t surprised by the increased interest, Hürzeler is under contract until 2029 after signing a new deal earlier this year.

Brighton have lost just once in their opening seven league matches and moved up to third after Sunday’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.

They are also the Premier League’s top scorers with 23 goals and have kept four clean sheets in a row, showing just how complete their performances have been.

The links to Old Trafford are understandable.

Hürzeler created a side that pressed aggressively, scored freely and looked increasingly comfortable in controlling matches.

Reuters highlighted Brighton’s remarkable turnaround under his leadership, noting that they had produced 23 league goals, five clean sheets and a +18 goal difference during their rapid start.

That’s the clear identity that Manchester United have been missing this season. But Brighton have little reason to panic.

Hürzeler has a long contract, the team is competing at the top of the table and there is currently no official approach from United.

Even if INEOS ultimately decides to move on from Carrick, it will require a hefty compensation to lure Hürzeler away. For now, Brighton’s confidence is justified.

If Hurzeler continues to win and bigger clubs turn the admiration into concrete offers, the more interesting question may be how long this position can last.
