KGL U17 Colts: The semi-final race reaches a decisive final day

The 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship concludes with a decisive group stage on Thursday 8 October, with the remaining semi-final places to be decided at the Ganaman Football Center of Excellence in Prampram.

Six matches will determine the outcome of the final stage, with several teams still fighting for a place in the last four, while others are looking to improve their position by the play-offs.

Prempeh Elite Academy, which has already qualified for the semi-finals, starts its match against Upper East Region at 8 am. In the other Group A match, Greater Accra Region takes on Northern Region.

Attention then shifts to Group B at 10am, where Brong Ahafo and Western region meet in a match that could decide the battle for top spot. Both sides have collected nine points, with Elite Academy and BIG Boss one point behind them with eight points.

This leaves all three teams fighting for qualification before the final round. Elite Academy will face Eastern Region in the BIG Boss groups and know that a win can put them through to the semi-finals.

The afternoon program kicks off with defending champions Ashanti Region taking on Upper West Region at 2pm. Ashanti Region are yet to win in regular time and will aim to end their campaign on a positive note.

Central Region and Volta region will complete the group stage schedule. Their meeting will also have an impact on the final semi-final line-up as the competition moves towards the deciding stage.

Sponsored by the KGL Foundation, the U17 Inter-Regional Colts Championship is part of the Ghana Football Associations Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

The scheme is designed to identify, develop and nurture the next generation of football talent in Ghana. The tournament gives promising U17 players the opportunity to test their technical skills and tactical understanding in a competitive environment, while also gaining experience against the country’s leading youth players.

Therefore, the final group matches are set to determine not only which teams will advance, but also the standings that will form the semi-final stage.
