Prempeh Elite Academy will play the West region on Friday, October 9 in the first semi-final of the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, with a place in Sundays final.
Prempeh Elite Academy topped Group A with 13 points from five matches and was one of the strongest teams in the competition.
Their consistent performances and attacking quality have made them the main contenders for the title. They will now have to build on that form against the Western Region side who finished second in Group B behind Brong Ahafo.
The academy team are heading into the knockout stages with confidence after an impressive group stage campaign. However, the semifinals present a different challenge, aiming to upset the Western Region standings and reach the championship decider.
The Western Region have progressed through the group stage and will see Friday’s match as an opportunity to push the trophy further. Victory will earn them a place in Sundays final and end Prempeh Elite Academies’ bid for the title.
Brong Ahafo meets Greater Accra
In the other semi-final, Group B winners Brong Ahafo will face Greater Accra at the Ganaman Football Center of Excellence.
Brong Ahafos results in the group stage secured them top spot, but Greater Accra will be looking for a surprise win to progress to the finals.
The two semi-final winners will meet on Sunday at the GFA Technical Center where the sixth edition of the 2026 KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship will conclude.
The remaining four teams all have two matches left to win the competition. The semi-finals will determine which sides have a chance to end their campaign with the championship trophy.
The tournament is sponsored by the KGL Foundation and forms part of the Ghana Football Associations Talent Development Scheme (TDS).
The initiative is designed to identify, develop and nurture the next generation of Ghanaian football talent. The championship gives promising U17 players the opportunity to test their technical skills and tactical knowledge in a competitive environment.
It also provides valuable experience against some of the countries’ most promising young footballers as they continue to develop.
