Jurgen Klopp has made his feelings clear about Liverpool’s title-winning performance against Man City

Jurgen Klopp, the former head coach of “Liverpool”, broke his silence after the important guilty verdict given to “Manchester City”.

Klopp’s Liverpool have finished just one point behind City in two memorable Premier League title races, meaning the German’s name has inevitably been drawn into discussions about what could happen if further sanctions affect any historic honours.

However, Klopp has played down talk of potentially winning further titles and insisted Liverpool are content with what they have achieved on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp expressed his opinion on the finding of guilt of “Manchester City”.

Speaking about the verdict (quotes from Fabrizio Romano), Klopp made it clear that he was not going to celebrate any retrospective success.

“I’m far from preparing for the title or anything like that. I’m absolutely happy with what we achieved at Liverpool. We fought hard on the pitch. I can’t say more about it because I don’t know the details.”

The former head coach of “Liverpool” Pep Guardiola and his rival “Manchester City” also appreciated the quality of the teams.

“I can only wait and see. I have a lot of respect for Guardiola and City’s style of football; they played fantastically and were a high-class opponent for us.

“If any sanctions are imposed, I have nothing to do with it, I will wait.”

Klopp’s response is particularly measured given Liverpool’s position as City’s closest rivals in one of the era’s most hotly contested title races.

Klopp has previously joked about Man City’s title parade

His latest comments also contradict the blunt statement he made shortly after leaving Liverpool in 2024.

Klopp was asked at the time how he would react if Manchester City were stripped of their titles following a Premier League investigation.

His answer was instantly memorable:

“If you organize a bus parade, I’m in! I don’t care how long it takes!”

The comment was delivered in jest but has inevitably come up again after recent events around the City.

“Liverpool” lost two Premier League championships to “Manchester City” by one point

Few managers have squeezed Guardiola’s Manchester City as much as Klopp did during his time at Anfield.

Liverpool collected an extraordinary 97 points in the 2018/19 season, with only City finishing one point ahead with 98 points.

Klopp’s team won the Premier League the following season with 99 points.

The same agonizing scenario then repeated itself in 2021/22, with Liverpool finishing with 92 points but again missing out on the title to City by one point.

Liverpool could potentially benefit if any of City’s historic Premier League titles are eventually scrapped and subsequently awarded to runners-up.

However, there is no confirmation that Liverpool will be awarded any additional titles retrospectively, and Klopp himself is not shying away from the possibility.

For now, the former Reds manager is content with what the Liverpool side have achieved on the pitch, regardless of what the authorities decide.
