Real Madrid boss Mourinho admits midfielder Arda Guler is not untouchable amid interest from Chelsea.
The former Chelsea manager delivered a firm tactical assessment when asked directly whether the Turkish midfielder had made himself integral to Real Madrid’s starting XI after an intense game.
Mourinho said (quoted by Fabrizio Romano):
“No, no one is untouchable. When I made changes, it was precisely because we lost control. Arda, who plays No. 10, also lowered his intensity.”

Mourinho explains Arda Guler’s substitution
Mourinho made the comments after replacing Guller midway through the second half, reiterating that no player at the Santiago Bernabeu is guaranteed a starting spot regardless of reputation.
The Portugal boss stressed that rotation changes will continue on a game-by-game basis as he oversees a midfield line-up made up of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Brahim Diaz.
Chelsea hope to sign Guler in January
Mourinho’s response has given long-time admirers Chelsea new impetus.
Chelsea hierarchy are reportedly preparing an ambitious €100 million transfer for Guler in the January transfer window.
The Blues have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old’s situation as he faces stiff competition for playing time in the Spanish capital.
Chelsea decision-makers believe Guler is a generational talent who can immediately change the attacking dynamic at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move before, but their London rivals now appear to be in the lead.
With Mourinho making it clear that status alone cannot protect any player from the bench, Chelsea’s recruitment team sensed an opportunity to test Real Madrid’s resolve with a record-breaking bid in the winter window.
