Daniel Maldini has been in impressive form in front of goal for Cagliari in the early stages of the 2026-27 season and on his current trajectory, it won’t be long before the buyout clause in his contract becomes a liability.
How much will Cagliari pay to make Maldini’s contract permanent?
Maldini has scored four goals in six matches at the start of the 2026-27 Serie A campaign, all in his last four appearances. He is the first Italian player to score in four consecutive Serie A matches in over seven years since Moise Kean at Juventus in March and April 2019.

With his current goalscoring numbers, Maldini is already starting to look like one of the Serie A signings of the season. He joined the Sardinian outfit on loan with an option to buy from Atalanta, which can be converted into an obligation to buy under certain conditions.
Cagliari paid 1 million euros to bring Maldini from Atalanta during the summer transfer window and will have the option to make the transfer permanent for an additional 8 million euros.
According to Calciomercato.com, the 25-year-old will be subject to a buyout option after scoring a certain number of goals for Cagliari this season, which is considered to be “less than 10”.
