Here are the highlights from Matthias Jaissle’s Crystal Palace press conference

Matthias Jaissle Crystal Palace press conference took place on Friday.

This is ahead of the Newcastle United match on Sunday.

2pm kick-off at Selhurst Park.

“Newcastle United” wants to bounce back from consecutive defeats.

The head coach made a statement to the press.

Matthias Jaissle pressure to manage Newcastle United:

“I’ve always said that it’s a privilege to be the head coach of Newcastle United. It’s not a huge pressure, I would use another word. It’s a huge responsibility.

“It’s a setback at the moment and we have to deal with it. Fans’ disappointment is part of the game. They are passionate, especially our supporters who are big.”

Matthias Jaissle in full week training:

“It’s been a week where we’ve been absolutely determined, but now it’s time to focus on the next game. To put in a performance to get a great result. It’s time to make it count on match day.”

Matthias Jaissle at Crystal Palace:

“They suffered a heavy defeat [5-0 at Brighton] and then drew [2-2 at Besiktas] yesterday; they will want a reaction. We can only focus on ourselves, on the things we can control. We are focused on Crystal Palace to execute the match plan.”

About Matthias Jaissle, Sean Steur:

“We are all convinced by the whole club, the coaching staff and the players how much potential Sean has. He has already shown that, like many other kids, there are ups and downs and that is normal.

“Now it’s time for him to get that confidence, that maturity throughout the training sessions, the training weeks, and we see it as a long-term project.

“Nico (Gonzalez) is doing well in that position, but that’s the competition. We’re happy with his progress.”

Matthias Jaissle on the progress of Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey:

“Anthony trained this week and worked hard. He won’t be able to play 90 minutes but hopefully he can make the squad.

I’m happy that Jacob is back on the field. We have to go step by step with him, we don’t want to take too many risks. I am happy that we are slowly bringing the players back.”
