Pedro Goncalves has revealed that he quickly agreed to join Fiorentina and that Saudi money never tempted him.
Speaking to The Nation, By TuttoMercatoWebthe striker reflected on his deadline day move from Sporting Lisbon.
“I’m ready to leave Portugal but I just want Europe. England, Spain or Italy. Saudi Arabia? There’s something there but I’m not interested,” he said. “The first contact with Fiorentina was between my manager and director Paratici, and I immediately said yes.”
Goncalves uses down time to recuperate
The striker arrived on loan at the end of the transfer window and has been building up his squad ever since, with the international break arriving at a useful time.
“Assuming it takes three weeks for me to be at my best, given the suspension of the league, I’d say we’re already there.”
He also knows exactly what he wants to contribute. “It’s obvious that I intend to score a lot of goals, isn’t it? I would be happy to be considered the most important signing along with Mastantono, but I don’t think so.”
Goncalves and Franco Mastantono, both on loan from Real Madrid, represent the attacking quality the Viola lack, and both are expected to make an impact once Serie A resumes.
