Former Brit predicts Emma Raducanu will “win Wimbledon one day”.

Former British No. 1 Dan Evans has confidently predicted that Emma Raducanu will “win Wimbledon one day”.

“He’s fine, and I think I’m saying this as nicely as possible — I think he thinks he’s fine,” said the retired Evans. The Telegraph in the interview.

“Not in an arrogant way, but when you play in big matches, you’re like, ‘Whatever. It’s like, ‘It’s another match.’ Yeah, I think one day he’ll get it.”

Raducanu won the U.S. Open in 2021 as an 18-year-old qualifier, but that remains the only title of his career and he has reached the fourth round of a grand slam just once in five years.

The 2026 season was another disappointment for Raducanu, as he dropped out of the world’s top 100 after missing Wimbledon and the US Open due to a stress fracture in his right leg.

Injuries and fitness issues have been a constant theme of Raducanu’s career since her stunning US Open triumph, but there have been questions about her commitment, but Evans believes the 23-year-old is working hard to achieve her goals.

“He’s definitely got to have a little more racket,” he said. “I’m sure he’s being pushed around with approvals and there’s a bit of a tug-of-war about what to do and what not to do.

“I admit that I didn’t watch much of his training, but from what I’ve been told, he’s a good trainer: he works for two or three hours with almost no breaks.”

Evans, 36, finished his career at this year’s Wimbledon, which saw him reach the top 30 in the world. The Birmingham player was controversially denied the Wimbledon singles title and played her final doubles match on Court 15 rather than the main show court.

Dan Evans ended his professional career with a first-round defeat at Wimbledon (PA).

Evans said he was shown “disrespect” during the last grass-court season and accused Great Britain’s Davis Cup captain and the Lawn Tennis Association’s head of men’s tennis, Leon Smith, of rejecting wildcards at tournaments.

“My complaint is that there is no connection between what people do for British tennis by playing in the Davis Cup and the wildcards,” Evans said. “Because there were probably how many times I didn’t want to play in Davis Cup but I did… and then I didn’t get a wild card in the Ilkley Challenger.

“I just think it’s disrespectful, but that’s to be expected from a Davis Cup captain. That’s what you get when he doesn’t need you, right? So you know he’s not going to be in my Christmas cards this year, and he didn’t reply to my message later. [retirement].”
