Henry gets new deal
Stevenage veteran defender Ronnie Henry has signed a new contract with the League Two club. The 34-year-old former Tottenham youngster, who has played 469 games for Stevenage so far, will take on a part-time role in the club’s academy as part of his new deal, which will see him retire into coaching.
Thousands welcome Napoli home after win over Juventus
Although the victory still leaves Napoli one point behind league leaders Juventus, thousands of people were waiting at the airport for the team to return home after the weekend’s 1-0 win. An estimated 10,000 to 20,000 people waited outside the airport as the Neapolitans revived their hopes of winning their first and only Scudetto, with Maradona’s genius dragging them to glory. Napoli have only won Serie A twice in their history, in 1987 and 1990, both times thanks to the talents of Argentinian legends. With four games left in the season, they now have every chance of winning three titles.
Pogba denies transfer rumors…sort of
Paul Pogba told French TV channel Canal+: “Mourinho made me captain. He gave me the keys and the responsibility at a great club like Manchester United. At the moment, I’m at Manchester United and I’m only thinking about the present. We’re in the FA Cup final; I still have the World Cup. Things like transfers are not on my mind.”
Everton fan becomes first remote mascot
With the AV1 robot manufactured by No Isolation, Jack McLinden became the first remote mascot in football history. McClinden’s health prevented him from attending games at Goodison Park and watching his beloved Everton play, but he was able to experience the moment remotely as the robot fed back live images and sounds and enabled him to chat with the players in real time.
FA apologizes for Kane tweet
The Football Association has apologized to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in a tweet following their 2-1 win in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday. The tweet showed a message asking Chris Smalling: “What’s in your pocket?” followed by a clip of him saying “Harry Kane”.
Klopp asks Liverpool fans to respect Roma
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool fans to respect Roma and not throw objects at the team bus like the Manchester City bus did in the last round. Klopp said: “This is an outstanding club, known for its great atmosphere. We don’t need to throw things. Do it again inside the stadium and do it better. Outside the stadium, show the respect we have to show. We can show how good Liverpool people are and we can show it 20 minutes before the game and then the whole world knows. “I just hope those idiots listen.
Roma strike new sponsorship deal
Roma have signed a shirt sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways and will wear their new kit in their semi-final against Liverpool. The agreement will last until 2021. “We are delighted to announce this historic partnership between Roma and Qatar Airways, two great brands with global ambitions,” said Roma President Jim Pallotta.
Hector extends Cologne deal
With Cologne almost certain to be relegated, clubs are on the lookout for Germany international left-back Jonas Hector in the hope of signing him on the cheap. Those hopes were dashed when Hector agreed a new five-year contract with FC Cologne. Hector said: “FC Cologne allowed me to enter the German national team from the regional league (fourth level). I am very affectionate and grateful to this club and feel very comfortable living in Cologne. There is no problem for me to move to another club after this season, but it doesn’t feel right. We have had a lot of conversations in the past few weeks and I have enough time to think about this issue. “Hector’s contract with Cologne now runs until 2023.

Not sure what that is, but Borussia Dortmund has created a new position called “Head of Authorized Players Department” and appointed Sebastian Kehl to the position. Does anyone know what this actually means?
Argentina suffers blow from Biglia
AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia looks set to miss this summer’s World Cup after fracturing two vertebrae against Benevento. “AC Milan informs that Lucas Biglia suffered a serious injury to his lower back during Saturday’s match against Benevento,” the club statement read. “The player has undergone a medical examination and was found to have fractured the transverse processes of the first two lumbar vertebrae. A detailed prognosis will be released within a few days after all medical examinations are completed.”
