Fisayo Dele-Bashiru came off the bench to replace Davide Frattesi in Lazio’s 3-1 win over Monza at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, October 11, 2026. It was the first game he picked up in the thigh on the opening day against Bologna. Six days later, Corriere dello Sport reported that Lazio wanted to sign him long-term.
So what does he gain?

From city academy to Rome
Manchester City signed him in 2009 at the age of eight. He stayed for eleven years. There was no first team game.
Sheffield Wednesday signed him in July 2020 and played 86 times in all competitions over three seasons at Hillsborough, scoring six goals and was named the club’s Player of the Month for October 2021.
Then came Turkey. Hatayspor signed a 3-year contract with him in July 2023. He scored 9 goals in 39 games in one season. Italian clubs have drawn attention.
Lazio moved on July 6, 2024. Calciomercato reported a €2 million repaid loan with a buy-back clause activated in March 2025, and Turkish newspaper Fanatik quoted Transfermarkt as saying Hatayspor’s total proceeds from the sale were €5.43 million.
Dele-Bashiru Salary, Contract and Net Worth
Lazio do not disclose their salaries. The only figure from a serious outlet comes from Calciomercato, which reports that he has signed a four-year deal worth a net €1.3 million per season until June 30, 2028, the day he signed.
At about N1,490 to the euro at the beginning of October 2026, that is about N1.94 billion per annum. In dollars, around N1,328 is close to $1.46 million. Take this as a guess. Bonuses, image rights and any revisions since 2024 are not public.
The 2028 deadline is why the renewal story is important. After Corriere dello Sport, Complete Sports and Bold Sports said the club wanted to start negotiations early, with Gustav Isaksen and Nicolò Rovella also on the list. No deal has been announced.
Net worth is simpler. Several websites print valid summaries, but do not cite any sources or methods we have found, so we do not repeat any of them. He has been a professional since 2020, his Lazio salary is the biggest published figure of his career and he has no publicly documented business interests.
place with the Super Eagles
His first call to the Nigerian team was in October 2023. Since then, he has made 19 appearances and scored two goals: the first in a 1–1 draw with South Africa in a World Cup qualifier on 7 June 2024, and the second in a 1–0 win over Libya in an AFCON qualifier in October of that year.
He was in the AFCON 2025 bronze medal winning squad on 17 January 2026 when Nigeria defeated Egypt 4–2 on penalties in Casablanca.
The injury came at a bad time. When Eric Chel named his 24-man squad for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers against Madagascar away to Uyo and Guinea-Bissau on 18 September 2026, the midfield spots were given to Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika and Frank Onyeka as Deru was ruled out.
Now he is back in shape.
Family and background
Football runs in the family. His older brother Tom, who was born in September 1999, also came through Manchester City’s academy before joining Watford and represented Nigeria at under-20 and under-23 level in 2019. Tom spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Turkey’s Gençlerbirlik and Soccernet reported in June 2026 that he was close to joining Thessaloniki, citing Greek media.
Fisayo talked about this competition. “I didn’t know I was going to be considered for the Super Eagles before then,” he told Soccernet in October 2024.
Apart from the brothers’ careers, the family keeps their personal lives private. We have nothing to add.
Our vision
At 25, with Lazio unbeaten after six league games and looking to extend his stay, Dele-Bashiru is in a better position than not in the Eagles squad. The six things we listed when he first joined the Super Eagles still stand, but a goal on the final day of last season and Lazio’s run to the 2025-26 Coppa Italia final point to a player who belongs in Serie A and a new deal would probably take him in excess of €1.3m, although nothing has been published.
