Cesc Fabregas was impressed by Como’s “patience, maturity and resilience” to fight back in a 3-1 win away to Torino. “Jacobo Ramon made a serious mistake but showed character.”

Lariani dominated possession in Turin but fell behind an hour after Che Adams scored, Kian Fitz-Jim robbing Jacobo Ramo.

Robert Sanchez had to make a couple of saves to keep the margin to a minimum, while Como remained inactive until the closing stages.

Finally, with a header in the 81st, Ramon broke the deadlock by correcting that errorSt minute and it created a tidal wave with Nico Paz and Martin Baturina sealing the 3-1 result.

Fabregas marvels at how resilient he is

“We still have to prove that we are a great team, but it was already a test of our maturity because we didn’t play the same way last season,” Fabregas told Sky Sport Italia.

β€œIt was our fourth game in 10 days, it was not easy to understand or understand, but we showed great patience, maturity, resilience and refused to give up until the end.

“You can’t win every game 2-0, we made a mistake for the opening goal, it happens, then it was up to us to react and deal with the situation. It’s very difficult to win games in Italy, I’ve been saying that for two or three years and I’m very grateful to the team for what they did tonight.”

Fabregas called the players around him after the final whistle for a team talk on the pitch.

“I told them that we are a family, we have to find every solution for what we have done for Como in this new life. We must not forget that this is the first time in the history of the club that we are facing such a situation.

“I gave them an extra day off, but we have to be ready for Venice on Sunday because they work better with Davide Nicola. We have to keep it up.”

Given that Torino are one of Serie A’s form teams and have won three in a row, it was a tough test, but Como learned from the loss to Frosinone.

“Every defeat teaches you a lesson and we didn’t know how to play this game. However, Frosinone are a side that keep their minds to the end, while Torino waited for us with a low block and then went on the counter.

“I think tonight we were unlucky to be behind for so long because we hit the woodwork twice, we were disallowed for a centimeter and Da Cunha should have had a penalty,” Fabregas said.

“There were a lot of chances, we were doing very well and we didn’t deserve to be behind. Maybe we couldn’t have won last season, but now we have more solutions. It shouldn’t make us relax, on the contrary, we have to focus on the things we still need to improve.

“I was impressed with his resilience, for example Jacobo Ramon made a serious mistake but he kept his head and then scored the equaliser. That’s football for me, people of character who make mistakes but then move on and don’t let fear get the better of them.”

Como have shown in previous seasons that they have always picked up more points in the second half of the season, but despite their Champions League commitments, they are currently four points better than at this stage last year.

With that in mind, is it their ambition to challenge for the Scudetto this term?

“I think you know the answer. It’s our first European competition and it’s the Champions League, not the Conference League, where you can rotate more. If you make a mistake in the Champions League, you can lose 5-0,” Fabregas replied.

“We played 66 hours from Manchester United against Sassuolo, so you have to rotate, you can’t use the same 11 and injuries are increasing. We don’t have any wingers at the moment.

“To be honest, I haven’t even looked at the table so I don’t know how many points we have. I don’t care about that in October. We have to take it one game at a time, play the football I want and keep pushing.

“It’s a growth process and we have to be focused.”
