Dejan Kulusevski is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur matchday squad for the first time in over a year for Monday’s trip to Coventry City.
Dejan Kulusevski is relishing his return to Tottenham’s matchday squad for the first time in 526 days tomorrow. Kulusevski is available for selection for Monday night’s game against Coventry City after a serious knee injury ruled the striker out since the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
On Sunday afternoon, he posted a message to Spurs fans on Instagram: “I see you tomorrow, I told you I’d be back. Now is the time.”
Kulusevski missed Tottenham’s Europa League triumph in 2025, all of last season and this summer’s World Cup after requiring a second procedure in March to fix a long-standing problem.
However, speaking on Sunday, Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi confirmed: “Yes, Kulusevski is on the bench. We had a meeting with the medical team.

“They gave good news and it’s great news. I think it’s one of the best news since the Everton game last season because Deki suffered a lot. He deserves to feel the emotion on the pitch.”
He then smiled before adding: “I spoke to the medical staff and they gave me the OK.” [wide]. And we are happy. We are very, very happy.
“It’s not football. I’m not talking about football. OK, he’s a special player, but we’re talking about different things. He suffered a lot and his reaction was great.”
While Kulusevski is set to return, Tottenham are expected to be without Savio and Lucas Bergvall for the game.“Unfortunately Savio felt a muscle problem on Tuesday…before we went to Marbella. Unfortunately we lost him for a couple of weeks,” said De Zerbi.“And Lucas Bergvall, because he had a problem early in the game in Manchester. The day after Manchester. [United]Sunday came [the] a training ground for our medical staff. And I think two weeks [out].”
On Frank Lampard’s side, De Zerbi said: “Coventry are a good team. They played fantastic Championship last season. They deserve to win the league and play in the Premier League this season.
“They play with energy, with quality, because they have players, (Sidiki) Cherif, I know very well and there are other players, but we are Tottenham and keep humble, keep humble, keep what you want, but we want to show that we are good enough to win games, especially we deserve to win games.”
