Cody Gakpo comes off injured against Serbia
The Netherlands international was substituted early in the UEFA Nations League clash after a serious tackle in midfield.
Serbia’s Sasa Lukic challenged Gakpo in the final seconds, resulting in serious contact with the forward’s left calf.
Gakpo received treatment on the pitch before being unable to continue playing, which immediately sparked concern for the national team and club.
Medical staff will assess the full extent of the ankle injury before he returns to Merseyside.

Gakpo’s injury adds to growing concerns at Liverpool
The setback leaves Liverpool in a major dilemma during the international break. Alexander Isak was also forced to withdraw from the Swedish team after suffering a thigh injury while playing in the Nations League.
Isak Bai returned to the AXA Training Center in Liverpool early to begin evaluation and rehabilitation.
