Carragher has named the ‘Top Two Teams’ in the Premier League this season

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher says Man City and Arsenal are “the two best teams by a mile” in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca’s men secured a comfortable away win against Liverpool at Anfield and Carragher said it would have been a massive statement in the title race under normal circumstances.

“They’re the two best teams by a mile, we know that, and nobody else is really going to challenge them for the title. We want every game to matter, but right now it doesn’t.”

Carragher is referring, of course potential penalty City are facing a breach of FFP rules, but when asked to ignore that factor and give his opinion on whether or not City are title favourites, he replied:

“I think it’s difficult to do it so early. But from Man City’s point of view, you’d say they went and won at two of the toughest grounds, Anfield and Old Trafford, and they won in very tough conditions.”

“I’m a big Enzo Maresca fan, always have been. I remember him coming here with Chelsea in the first season when Liverpool won the league and Maresca was tactically fantastic.”

Maresca quickly settled in at Man City

Many thought the transition after Pep Guardiola would be more difficult, but the Italian seems to have taken to the job like a duck to water.

It helps that Maresca has worked at the club before and knows some of the players, but to hit the ground running in the way he has is impressive.

Who is the bookies favorite to win the title?

With the specter of a potential points drop, betting firms have placed longer odds than you might expect for City to win the title.

Despite being at the top of the table with 6 wins from 6 games, some bookmakers have as much as 7/2 for the top spot. Arsenal, on the other hand, are lucky favorites with Chelsea underdogs at 12/1.
