Burnley: What is the longest period without a win at home?

If Burnley fail to beat Portsmouth in their next home game on Saturday, October 31, they will set themselves a coveted English football record.

The Clarets are without a home league win since beating Leeds United 2-0 in the Premier League on 18 October 2025.

Sheffield Wednesday currently hold the record for the longest home league winless streak by a team in England’s top four divisions.

The Owls went 376 days without winning a league game at home from April 2025 to May 2026.

Burnley’s game against Pompey in the Championship later this month comes 377 days after their win over Leeds. The Clarets will have an open record if they fail to beat John Moussinho’s side.

The record does not include teams that left the English Football League and have since returned to the EFL.

Only teams with a winless run in one of England’s top four leagues are considered.

Since the victory over Leeds 12 months ago, Burnley have played 21 home league matches. The last six of them were in this season’s Championship, and the previous 15 were in last season’s Premier League.

In 10 of these 21 games, “Burnley” drew, and in the remaining 11 matches they lost.

Burnley won the FA Cup third round at Turf Moor in January 2026, defeating Championship side Millwall. They were then beaten again at Turf Moor by Mansfield Town in the fourth round, another home defeat for the Clarets.

Burnley beat Notts County in the first round of this season’s Carabao Cup, but it took a penalty shoot-out.
