Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has vowed to give “everything” to his recovery from his ongoing calf problem after being ruled out of the upcoming match in Slovenia.
The 23-year-old joined United from RB Leipzig for £66.3m last August and scored 12 goals in his first season at Old Trafford, but his season ended prematurely due to a tibia injury in May.
The injury also ruled him out of any of United’s pre-season friendlies, although he returned to action at the start of the new season and featured in the first six games.
Cesco scored twice in that game but suffered a renewed soreness in his shin that ruled him out of Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham.
“I’m sorry that I will have to miss the rest of the national team’s matches,” Cesco posted on Instagram.
“I have always played for Slovenia and will always play with heart and pride. The most important thing now is to be fully committed to recovery.
“I’m already working hard to get back on the pitch as soon as possible and help the national team and club again.
“I believe in our kids and I believe they’re going to show the team spirit that we’ve always had this time around.
“I can’t wait to wear the jersey with the national emblem again, and until then I will be Slovenia’s biggest fan.”

Cesco is one of four United players to withdraw from international duty during the three-week break.
Kobe Manu and Marcus Rashford have both withdrawn from the England squad, while Karl Darlow will not feature with Wales.
Manchester United have confirmed that each player will undergo an individual recovery plan during the suspension of the club’s first-team squad.
“Each player will be assessed and undergo an individual recovery plan during the current three-week international break.”
