Scotland suffered an eight-try loss to Australia in the WXV Global Series match in Sydney.
It was the visitors’ eighth straight loss, four of which have come at home to Canada, New Zealand and Australia in the new competition.
Australia made it two wins against the Scots after losses to England and France, a 30-10 win in Edinburgh that lifted them above the hosts in the world rankings.
Seeking revenge, the Scots, under coach Dave Butcher, lost Sarah Bonar to illness shortly before kick-off and the Harlequins lock was replaced by Bristol Bears’ Hollie Cunningham.
And they started brightly, with Katie Buchanan collecting the ball on the wing, beating a defender and sprinting over the line to secure a fifth-minute lead on her first international start.
Australia responded with five tries at the break.
