CONI’s executive committee unanimously approved the transfer of FIGC to a special administration, with Giovanni Malago appointed commissioner of the federation.
According to Tuttosport, all 15 of Giunta’s voting members supported the proposal at a meeting that started at 1pm on Tuesday. The decision still needs to be ratified by CONI’s National Council at 14:00, but this is considered a formality.
The result follows Monday’s mediation between CONI president Luciano Buonfiglio and Malaga, who met again Tuesday morning before the vote.

Malago will remain as commissioner in the FIGC leadership
Malago was elected FIGC president on June 22 with 68.58 percent of votes. CONI argued that the election was invalid because he was not a registered member of the federation when he stood as a candidate.
Buonfiglio originally planned to take the role of commissioner himself. With Giunta split and Serie A firmly behind Malaga, he proposed a compromise to avoid a damaging vote.
He will now lead the federation on an interim basis and is expected to call new elections in about three months. He will be able to stand up again, this time as a registered member.
