Arsenal want to sign the £220,000-a-week star, who is “one of the best players in the world”.

Arsenal are now considering signing Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, and the former Crystal Palace man’s stance on a return to the Premier League has been revealed.

Olise is trying to win the Ballon d’Or

The 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 26, and Olise is among the contenders to win the prestigious award.

In fact, former Bayern Munich and France defender Willy Sanol said: “Olise is the best in the world, ahead of all other players. If he doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or at the end of the year, something is seriously wrong.”

Not only did Vincent Kompany say the Frenchman was way ahead of the competition, he also praised his striker in April, saying: “Michael Olise is already one of the best players in the world.”

It’s hard to disagree with the 24-year-old’s performances since signing for Germany in the summer of 2024, which shows he has really come on since his time in England.

Of course, Harry Kane, who scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga last season, is the other main candidate alongside Lamine Yamal after the winger played a big part in Spain’s World Cup victory.

Although the former Palace star only left Selhurst Park two years ago, he has already been linked with a return to the Premier League, with a number of top clubs considering a move.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in signing Olise, but as things stand, he has little interest in returning to the Premier League.

A contract extension with Bayern Munich could be a more plausible scenario as he is now willing to agree to new terms and the German side are willing to offer him a bumper deal.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in the Frenchman, who is currently on £220,000-a-week, so there is no shortage of potential suitors.

Of course, Olise would be a real statement signing for Andrea Berta, but with Victor Gyökeres struggling to fit into Mikel Arteta’s plans this season with just 29 minutes in the Premier League, perhaps bringing in a new striker should be a priority.

Jamie Carragher also said that replacing Kai Haverts could be difficult: “You’re talking about one of the best players in the world to get Kai Havertz out of this team, you’ve got to get it.

“It’s got to be Ian Wright, 30 goals a season guarantee, Thierry Henry. Gyokeres will never replace Havertz, never.”
