“Arsenal” receives an inquiry for Bayern Munich club captain Odegaard

Arsenal could make a major decision on Martin Ødegaard in 2027, with uncertainty surrounding his next contract as Bayern Munich continue to monitor the Gunners captain.

The 27-year-old remains a vital figure for Mikel Arteta, but his current deal expires in June 2028.

Arsenal have already begun informal talks over an extension, with the club understandably keen not to let one of their most valuable players enter the final year of his contract.

Bayern and Juventus are monitoring Ødegaard’s situation

According to the Daily Briefing, Bayern Munich and Juventus are among the European heavyweights keeping tabs on Ødegaard, and Bayern have been in contact with his representatives for several years.

This interest from Bayern is supported by Sky Sport Germany, who report that Ødegaard could imagine playing for the Bundesliga champions at some stage.

Bayern have been linked with his camp numerous times in previous years, although he is not currently considered one of their priority transfer targets.

Bayern are monitoring the situation and other major European clubs have also made inquiries.

Juventus’ interest appears to be less developed at this stage, with no similarly strong recent indication that a formal offer is in the works.

Arteta has made his feelings about Ødegaard very clear. After a great start to the campaign, he said:

“This is the Martin we know and love; he’s our captain. We’ve got to keep giving him the ball and let things happen.”

A new deal with Arsenal must remain a priority

Selling Ødegaard would only be an option for Arsenal if contract talks really break down.

He is the captain, one of Arteta’s key creative players and an essential part of Arsenal’s pressing structure. Replacing all three qualities would be much more difficult than finding another attacking midfielder.

Bayern’s interest is worth watching, especially since Ødegaard has finally agreed to play there. But at the moment there are no official negotiations between the clubs.

Therefore, Arsenal are still in control of the situation.

The smart move is to secure Ødegaard a new long-term contract in the coming months. If that’s not possible, a big sale in 2027 might make sense financially, but keeping it right now should be the priority.

Mourinho makes Arsenal his main transfer target, with “charisma and personality”.
