Andy Robertson: Scotland captain wins 100th cap

The great Kenny Dalglish is the only man to have worn Scotland’s navy blue more than Robertson.

‘King Kenny’ still tops the list with 102 caps, but in each of Scotland’s remaining Nations League games this year, the 32-year-old could overtake him if the 32-year-old comes in November.

Given the pair formed a friendship during their time at Liverpool, it will be Robertson who surpasses this long-standing milestone.

Dalglish isn’t feeling it.

“He always says there’s a million more games; League of Nations, what’s that? It didn’t exist in my day!” Robertson recently joked on the Stick to Football podcast.

“I think he can still bring the ratio to the games he plays to be at the top.

“Obviously it’s something that’s been on my radar for a while. When you get to the 80-odd titles, you start looking up.”

Dalglish can take solace in the fact that his 30-goal record shared with Denis Lowe eludes Robertson.

Of the current players, John McGinn is only eight behind Robertson on the all-time list, so the Scottish men’s centurion club could soon have three members.
