And another… Nick Woltemade’s starting stats for Juventus say it all

It was 1 September 2026 when Nick Woltemade joined Juventus on loan from Newcastle United for the 2026-27 season.

Then things got pretty weird.

Nick Woltemade started just one competitive match for Juventus in his first six weeks at the club.

Nick Woltemade had to wait eight weeks for his first Serie A start.

Nick Woltemade has been scapegoated by the Italian media and others for Juventus’ poor start to the league season as they have won just three of their seven Serie A matches with the Newcastle United star on loan. Do it!

Juventus have now played ten matches in Serie A, seeing the Turin club win two and lose one in their last three.

Nick Woltemade started two of those and was moved back to the middle bench.

Guess which one it didn’t start for?

Yes, in the last eight days, Juventus won 2-0 away to Lecce and last night 2-0 at home to Napoli, both started by Nick Woltemade. One of them was a 2-0 away defeat at bottom-half Genoa and Nick Woltemade only came off the bench when Juventus were losing and looking set for defeat.

A pattern is almost forming…

Juventus 2026-27 record in all competitions
13 wins 7 draws 3 losses 3

Juventus 2026-27 record with Nick Woltemade
5 wins played 4 draws 1 loss 0

With Nick Woltemade, Juventus 2026-27 record did not start
8 wins 3 draws 2 losses 3 played

Nick Woltemade has scored and provided one assist in all three of Juventus’ Europa League games this season.

Big Nick has not scored in his two Serie A starts, but Juventus have won both and kept clean sheets in several 2-0 wins.

Nick Woltemade is an unselfish team player and after last night’s 2-0 win over Napoli saw Juventus leapfrog them, Goal reported: “Nick Woltemade didn’t hit the target, but he provided a physical presence up front. His main contribution was his steady play and his occupation of Napoli’s centre-backs, which allowed late-arriving midfielders to find space in the final third.

It was ridiculous that the Italian media wanted to blame the Newcastle United loanee for Juventus’ early league form. To blame someone who is not given a chance! It is not surprising to see the pathetic English media lazily and blindly repeating this line by their Italian counterparts.

Hopefully we will now see Nick Woltemade get a regular start for Juventus both in Europe and in Serie A. A successful loan season to help the forward progress, having made very limited starts at top-flight level in Germany before joining Newcastle United. United will then have the option of bringing Big Nick back to the Newcastle team or alternatively receiving a very healthy transfer fee to help fund other recruitment.
