Analyst Keys Browns Matchup Against Titans

The Cleveland Browns are the odds-on favorites this season, and for good reason. Although their Week 7 game is on the road, it’s against the Tennessee Titans, who have just one win and look well on their way to the top pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

That’s where a lot of people expected the Browns to be at this point, but they’ve been one of the league’s most surprising teams with a 4-2 record in first place in the AFC North. Now they can’t let a winnable game slip away.

Bleacher Report analyst Brent Sobleski revealed the key to the Browns’ matchup against the Titans, and that’s for Cleveland to rely on its stout defense against Tennessee’s disappointing quarterback.

“After winning their first game last weekend, the pressure on the Titans has eased, which is fortunate because quarterback Cam Ward will have a tough time against the Browns defense. Cleveland’s defense may not rank highly statistically, but the unit has played aggressively and opportunistically all season. If the first six weeks are to say that the Titans are ready to handle a quality opponent,” Sobleski wrote.

The Browns rank 13th in yards allowed per game, but are fifth in points allowed per game, giving up fewer than 20 points in four of six outings. The Titans are last in yards gained and points per game and have not scored more than 20 points offensively in any of their six outings.

Cleveland should be wary of the “trap game,” a lesson it’s already learned this season. Coming off an emotional win against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, the Browns lost to the New York Jets on the road in Week 5, presumably expecting to play the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

The Browns beat the Ravens on a late field goal in that game, and the Steelers will be back in Week 8. So the Titans are sandwiched between two major division games, as are the Jets.

Tennessee’s best unit is its defense, so it could face a tough challenge that could go well again in the fourth quarter.
