Despite making MLS history in his last outing, Jonathan Osorio is focused on Toronto FC’s promotion to the playoffs.
Osorio scored in Toronto’s 2-1 win over DC United on Wednesday.
In the process, the 34-year-old became the first player in MLS history to score in 14 consecutive campaigns for one club.
But Osorio, who helped Toronto win a treble, including the MLS Cup in 2017, is focused on the club’s playoff berth.
Toronto is in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, although it is just two points out of a wild-card slot with two games left in the regular season.
When asked if he had mentioned the incident, Osorio said: “No.
“You look at it and it’s definitely something to be proud of, but honestly right now my focus is trying to make the playoffs for this team.
“It’s great, to play 14 seasons and contribute to this club that I love; I’ve said that many times. But right now, my focus is just to help this team get to the playoffs.
“Our fans deserve it. These fans are one of the best in the league. They’re amazing. The way they show for the team, year in, year out, high and low, these fans deserve a competitive team.
“We’re doing everything we can to get this team into the playoffs and give the fans what they deserve.”
“Toronto” will host “Atlanta United” this weekend.
Atlanta is 14th in the East, well out of the playoff picture.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Atlanta United – Breel Penis
Embolo scored Atlanta’s only goal on Wednesday with a header in the 88th minute.
Since the start of September, Embolo has scored four goals in the second half of matches, while other Atlanta United players have just three goals in the second half (excluding own goals) during that time.
Toronto FC – Josh Sargent
Sargent scored the game-winner on Wednesday for his ninth goal of the regular season.
He joins teammate Daniel Salloi with nine goals this season, but no Toronto player has reached double figures in a regular season since Alejandro Pozuelo (12) and Jozy Altidore (11) did it in 2019.

Match prediction: ATLANTA UNITED WIN
Their 2-1 win over DC marked the third time this season that Toronto won an MLS match after halftime. The Reds had two such wins in the previous four seasons entering 2026.
Atlanta, meanwhile, attempted 19 shots and allowed just 11 in a 2-1 loss to New York City FC.
They have outscored their opponents by at least eight tries in three of their last four games.
Atlanta, meanwhile, has lost just two of its last 12 meetings with Toronto to start the 2021 season (W5 D5), including a 2-1 win on the road on April 25.
However, Atlanta’s only set of back-to-back wins over Toronto came in August and October during the 2021 season.
