A comeback victory began with Alex Freeman’s first Villarreal goal

Alex Freeman’s first goal for Spanish club Villarreal sparked a huge comeback on Saturday.

Freeman scored his first La Liga goal in Villarreal’s 2-1 comeback win over Valencia on Saturday. The defender of the US Men’s National Team continued the productive first half of the season and entered the game on the left wing for 90 minutes.

Pepelu’s goal from the penalty spot gave Valencia the advantage in the first half, and he would get a good result in the second half. However, Freeman would seal things off just after the hour mark, starting a second-half surge for Villarreal.

Freeman sent a powerful header inside the Valencia 18-yard box into the bottom left corner for a 1-1 tie.

Despite Pape Gueye receiving a red card for Villarreal in the 79th minute, the visitors grabbed all three points at the death.

Georges Mikautadze played the hero for Inigo Pérez’s side, earning them their third league win of the season.

Freeman created two chances in the match, won seven duels and drew three fouls. It was the 22-year-old’s 12th appearance in all competitions of the campaign.

Eighth-placed Villarreal will next turn their attention to CD Manacor in the Copa Del Rey on Tuesday.
