We look at Manchester City’s reaction after being found guilty on all but one of 115 charges, breaching league financial rules.

The news was revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein on Friday afternoon, adding that City are expected to appeal the independent commission’s ruling.

We have not yet found out what sanctions they face, that process is still ongoing. Meanwhile, BBC Sport reported that the Premier League declined to comment.

A Manchester City spokesman said Competitor: “The Premier League process is ongoing and there are important elements that need to be finalized and are subject to strict confidentiality. Manchester City Football Club’s position therefore remains consistent with the club’s February 2023 statement.

“The club’s eight-year commitment to due process has been based on the assumption that the Premier League board and executives will act as independent, impartial and fair regulators, free from partisan influence.”

Manchester City said in a statement in February 2023: “Manchester City Football Club is surprised by these alleged breaches of Premier League rules, particularly given the extensive involvement and amount of detailed material that has been provided by the Premier League.

“The club welcomes an independent committee review of this matter to fairly consider the full range of irrefutable evidence supporting its position.

“We therefore expect this matter to be fully resolved.”

@AliceTalksFooty: The punishment Manchester City get will really show how many goals there are in the Premier League. Found guilty on many charges they should be sent to the National League but something tells me it would be something stupid like a fine (which won’t affect them) + a transfer ban.

What penalties will actually be imposed by the Premier League – Everton are docked 10 points and fined £50m. City will be fined ten pounds and placed on a transfer ban until January this year.
