“2 games, 13 goals” – a thrilling FA Cup tie between Dorking and Southall, ultimately won in extra time in the replay.
After a 2-2 draw at the weekend, National League South side Dorking Wanderers won 5-4 to knock out eighth-tier side Southall.
In his post-match interview, Mark White was delighted to see his side progress, but added that Southall made things difficult for Dorking and was impressed by their fine goal-scoring.
The result means Dorking will face Chatham in the FA Cup third qualifying round on Saturday 3 October.

Dorking’s Mark White said after the game: “I mean, first of all, like I would say, like great opponents, great club, great players, management team, lovely manager.
“They lost one or two in the 30, they’ve got some great players and they kept us honest and the story tonight was like how many chances do you want in a football game and it obviously showed that God sent us to test us because we were in the most control at 1-0 and we had chance after chance.
“I mean, if you look at the highlights from that game, you know they were coaches like guys, you know, like you know the opportunities, I mean, you know, we were wasted on them as well, like you know, I think George and Josh were just trying to be too smart in front of the goal.
“It just needed a little more caressing, a little more time, no disrespect to Southall, but it wouldn’t have been fair if we had scored 15 goals in that game.
“So listen, they scored an absolutely brilliant goal out of nowhere to equalize the game and it really shocked us because we were wasted.
He continued: “They held their own in the game and we had to come from behind the whole game and we were down 4-3 in overtime. The guys were resilient, they were calm, like the McShane’s of the world, and Barets, Pinchard were calm. Seb came in and did a great job and they found a way. They found a way. They found a way.”
“If we can take one thing out of this team, because right now, let’s face it, both boxes are struggling. It sounds weird because we’re probably scoring more than two points every game. But we’re probably scoring more than that number every game.
“The problem is this team has a lot of goals, but at the moment we’re conceding goals. I mean there were a couple other harmless goals tonight, but the bottom line is you’re conceding goals and it doesn’t matter how they come about.
“But look, it doesn’t matter. We’re going to, you know, we’re one clean sheet away. You know, we’ve got to work hard for it.
“But I think if you look at the way we’re organized, if we keep a clean sheet, this is a team that can score goals. Goals are coming every week and there’s a lot of friction between the lads.”

Southall head coach Maxwell Howell posted after the game: “Proud of our kids, in two games we never took a step back against a top team that ultimately lost and we’re going to take that and keep going.
