Pakistan fast bowler Rauf has been fined for breaching the ICC code of conduct

LAHORE, Pakistan (AP) — Fast bowler Haris Rauf was fined 20 percent of his match fee and reprimanded Wednesday for violating the ICC code of conduct during Pakistan’s epic one-wicket win over England in an ODI cricket tri-series.

All-rounder Shadab Khan scored a brilliant unbeaten 113 on Sunday and stunned England by adding 89 runs for the last wicket with Rauf to catch Pakistan in Saturday’s final.

The ICC said in a statement that Rauf violated Article 2.2 of the code of conduct for players, which deals with conduct contrary to the spirit of the game.

Standing at the non-strikers’ end, Rauf turned to wide before tangling with England all-rounder Will Jacks for Pakistan’s 46th over.

Rauf also raised his bat and continued to exchange despite warnings from umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid. The Pakistani player also passed by the picture on his way to Jacks.

One minus point was added to Rauf’s disciplinary record. It was the fast bowler’s third offense in 24 months, taking his tally to five.

England, whose hopes of reaching the finals ended after Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets on Tuesday, were fined 15 per cent of their match fee for falling three times short of the target.

England will be looking for a consolation win against Sri Lanka in their final league game on Thursday.
