The Orlando Pride announced Tuesday the hiring of Mykell Bates and Lewis Amos as assistant coaches, along with Brian Periman as goaltending coach and assistant coach Scott Sutter joining the coaching staff of interim head coach Yolanda Thomas. Thomas took over following the surprise sacking of then head coach Seb Hines and the simultaneous departure of goalkeeping coach Paul Crichton.
Bates joins the Club after serving as an assistant coach at Angel City FC for the past four seasons. His previous coaching experience includes roles at USA Soccer, Los Angeles Soccer Club Academy and Santa Clara University. Bates is “known for its player development expertise and personalized technical training work.”
Amos most recently served as Girls ECNL Director and USL W League Head Coach at Sporting Jax. His experience spans over ten years in technical leadership, coaching and player development roles in both the US and UK.
Perimans spent last year as head of goalkeeping for USL Super League side DC Power FC. He brings “extensive experience with the U.S. women’s youth national team program, serving as both a talent scout and goaltending coach.”
Sutter was promoted to assistant coach following the departure of Giles Barnes earlier in the season. A former Orlando City SC defender, Sutter previously served as the Pride’s player development coach after joining the Club in March 2025.
