It is reported that Liverpool are demanding at least 70 million euros to part ways with Alexis McAllister, and Real Madrid are interested in buying the Argentine midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report from Spain, the Spanish giants have been informed of Liverpool’s financial demands, with the Premier League club unwilling to consider offers below the 27-year-old’s asking price.
Alexis McAllister is in the interest of Real Madrid
Real Madrid are keen to bolster their midfield options and Mac Allister has emerged as one of Jose Mourinho’s preferred targets. The Argentinian could add technical quality, creativity and tactical versatility to the Spanish side’s midfield.
Liverpool are reportedly ready to use the money from his potential departure to fund a rebuilding of their midfield. Despite his estimated transfer value of around €61.9m, the Reds are expecting a much higher figure.
The Merseysiders could therefore complicate negotiations for Real Madrid, who would have to commit significant funds to bring the World Cup winner to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Where is the future of Mac Allister?
Meanwhile, Mac Allister’s contract situation could make things even more difficult. His current contract with Liverpool runs until June 2028, but the club have yet to offer him an extension.
The midfielder has previously expressed frustration at the lack of progress on a new contract, particularly after seeing team-mates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai receive improved terms.
Real Madrid may see this situation as an opportunity to secure an important addition to their squad. The Spanish giants are looking for a long-term midfield solution following the departures of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
Mac Allister’s ability to dictate proceedings, retain possession and contribute defensively makes him an attractive option. Negotiations between the clubs could begin in December, with Real Madrid said to be considering a formal offer of €70m in early January.
However, Liverpool’s adamant stance means the Spanish side will have to meet their financial demands to have a realistic chance of completing the deal.
