Anderson was one of the standout central midfielders in the Premier League last season.
He topped the rankings for a number of metrics, including touches, possession, tackles and most fouls.
Despite playing for a struggling Forest side who have had four different managers and are just five points above the relegation zone, his impact has been remarkable.
The former Newcastle man’s tireless work rate means he has effectively replaced Bernardo Silva and Rodri at City, stepping up to a side that won two trophies last season and can challenge for the title again.
While Anderson hasn’t quite replicated the outright league leadership he displayed in several metrics last season, his underlying numbers remain elite.
He has more fouls (28) than any other player in the division, he is second in tackles won (66), third in successful passes (610) and third in tackles (851).
Only Tottenham’s Jan Paul van Hecke and Arsenal’s Declan Rice have managed more successful passes and line-breaking passes than Anderson, but the City midfielder has played at least 66 minutes less than either of them.
Anderson’s role as a deep-lying number six means he has just one goal and two assists in 14 games this season, although he was able to lay on Erling Haaland’s winner against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday.
“He was amazing,” Haaland said afterwards. “He’s had an amazing start to his City career and that’s what you expect. You have to come straight in and perform.
“It’s not easy to come here, you have to adapt and new players and a new coach, he was impressive. Respect.”
