To deal or not to deal
Crawley Town have decided to release four players while offering new deals to three others. Jordan Roberts, Billy Clifford, Aliu Jallo and Josh Leland are all looking for new clubs after being told they would not be offered new deals. Danny Boorman, Enzio Bodwien and Youssef Mershin all have new deals to consider.
Young Blackpool goalkeeper Miles Boney has signed a new one-year contract with the seaside club.
Steve Sidwell is set to leave Brighton when his contract expires in the summer after being told he will not be offered a new deal. The 35-year-old has been injured all season.
Blackburn Rovers, who were promoted this season, announced that they will waive Liam Feeney, Elliot Ward and Aaron Dillon from the first team. Danny Graham and Craig Conway have been offered new deals.
After being relegated from the Premier League, Swansea City’s exodus has begun, with Ki Sung-yong leaving the South Wales club. Leon Britton and Angel Rangel are already set to leave in the summer.
Accrington Stanley released Mekhi McLeod and Akil Francis after being promoted to League One as champions.
Nigeria announces provisional World Cup squad
Nigeria head coach Gernot Trull has named a provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup, which includes three players from the Nigeria Premier League, but the biggest surprise is Crotone striker Simon Nwankwo, who has not represented his country. The country’s most capped player, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, is the most likely to be missed. The team needs to be whittled down to 23 players before the game begins.

Scotland call up seven uncapped players
Head coach Alex McLeish has called up seven uncapped players as his options for late-season friendlies dwindle. McLeish did not invite Celtic players and Liverpool player Andrew Robertson to allow them to rest after a busy club schedule.

Peru captain misses World Cup
Peru’s record goalscorer and national team captain Paulo Guerrero will miss the World Cup as his drug ban has been extended from six months to 14 months. The Flamengo striker was initially banned for 12 months but this was halved following an appeal to FIFA. However, WADA appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and CAS handed down a 14-month ban.
Mawson undergoes surgery
Swansea defender Alfie Mawson will miss the World Cup after undergoing knee surgery. The 24-year-old is yet to feature for England but has been named in the squad for recent friendlies.
Tuchel takes over Paris Saint-Germain
Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as the new head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, replacing Unai Emery, in a move that won’t surprise anyone as everyone has known about it for weeks. Tuchel said: “I join Paris Saint-Germain, one of the great football clubs of the world, with great joy, pride and ambition. I look forward to working with all these great players, who are among the best in the world. Together with my staff, we will do everything we can to help the team push the limits to the highest international level. Mancini takes charge of Italy
A slightly more surprising appointment than Tuchel’s was the appointment of Roberto Mancini as Italy coach. Mancini left Zenit St. Petersburg and accepted the offer.
Brazil names Neymar
Neymar has been included in Brazil’s 23-man World Cup squad, although the Paris Saint-Germain forward is still recovering from surgery.

Fabio Coentrao asks to be left out of Portugal squad
In surprising news, Fabio Coentra has asked the Portuguese Football Federation to leave him out of the World Cup squad. Coentrao posted on social media: “Last week, after careful consideration, I told the national team that after a very tiring season, I felt that I was no longer capable of representing the Selecao at the World Cup. I will never turn my back on my country and hope to represent our national team more in the future. Until then, I will always be the one who cheers for the outside world. DFB criticizes Ozil and Gundogan
The German Football Association (DFB) has slammed internationals Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan for their involvement in a photo shoot for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Gundogan. With Turkey currently engaged in a campaign of ethnic cleansing and Gundogan leading the country through multiple mass genocides, the German Football Association was unhappy with the photo of the pair, Cenk Tosun, greeting Erdogan at the Turkish Embassy in London and the trio handing him his club jersey. DFB president Reinhard Grindel said: “The DFB certainly respects the special situation of our players with immigrant backgrounds, but football and the DFB represent values that Mr Erdogan does not fully respect. It is therefore not a good thing for our international player to allow himself to be abused for his campaign stunt. It certainly does not help the DFB’s integration efforts.”
