Harry Kane says he is seriously considering the potential of becoming an NFL kicker when his football career is over.
Kane’s football career shows no signs of slowing down, with the England and Bayern Munich star scoring a staggering 73 goals in 2026 and becoming a favorite for the Ballon d’Or.
But the 33-year-old admits he will eventually seek a career change when his football career is over, admitting once again that becoming an NFL kicker is a serious goal.
“It’s something I would try to think about more seriously,” Kane said. “It all depends on what happens in the next five or six years of my career, motivation and what I want to do.
“The NFL is more realistic than golf, let’s put it that way.”
Kane could take inspiration from Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who previously played football and was drafted by Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC and is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top kickers.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Clive Allen also switched to American football, playing for the London Monarchs in NFL Europe. Now Kane – one of Tottenham’s more prolific scorers – believes his own ability from set-pieces can help him follow in their footsteps and break the post.
“I take penalties and it’s a very similar pressure and technique,” the striker added. “If I do that, training-wise, I’ll be closer to that than any other sport.
“But I know that with all elite sport, when you watch it on TV, people make it look easy and you think it’s possible, but that’s not always the case.
“If I was going to do it, I’d take it seriously. Before I might have spent six months to a year trying to practice.”
Kane: MLS move is possible
Kane even stated that he would be willing to eventually move to Major League Soccer to see where his football career ends in order to ease the possibility of a move to MLS.
“Maybe if I was in Major League Soccer or something like that in the future, you might be able to tie the two back to the season,” he said.
“But it’s on my mind again because now I feel like I want to play here for as long as possible.
“I think it’s easy sometimes, at my age of 33, to start thinking about retirement or the future, but I’m trying to take everything from the last two, five or 10 years and I’ll keep moving forward.”

Kane also discussed the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Briton to do so since Michael Owen in 2001, making no secret of his desire to secure the honour.
“Winning the game is unbelievable from my perspective,” Kane said. “I would be very proud to win it.
“I think I’m going to win, no doubt about it, so time will tell and voters will vote for who they want.
“I feel even more proud when other people talk about me, when other teammates or former players or others compliment me on what I’ve accomplished.
“I think that makes me prouder than trying to talk about it myself.”
